Hunger.
Have you ever been in that place where you cant get enough of God? Where nothing else seems as important. The hunger of desperation clings to your being and you want to drop everything and run as fast as possible to his arms.
Jesus said,
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. (Matthew 5:6)
He promises to satisfy, yet at the same time he is the very thing we crave. The disciples got it right when they said, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). Though they were physically with the bread of life himself, they still had cravings. They hungered for him.
To the world its a paradox. He satisfies, yet his people still hunger?
Here is the reality. When He saves us He wrecks us to the point that the world doesn’t satisfy. His words become our food; His Spirit becomes our drink.
I wonder if we live in this truth. Do we live like a famished people, desperate for more of him?
Praise God that we don’t have to beg for more of him. He is a loving Father that doesn’t find it amusing to give his children scorpions when they ask for fresh eggs (Luke 11:12).
